The work of rekindling our joy and natural exuberance is like going into the attic and discovering this treasure chest that has accumulated what at first you know not what is there. So with the excitement of a curious child you look for the key or try to find something to break the lock and open the chest. So at first there are lots of cobwebs and stagnant air to clear out. Then you find old memories, some fun, some sad, some joyful. You remember the part that each played with the clothing left in the chest. So you laugh, you experience tears, you may feel angry or just fearful but as the emotions, dramas, entanglements clear as you have brought them into the light, you discovery further down in the chest memories of the real you, abilities and talents you didn't not think you had, joys that could now be felt, feelings that can now be expressed because the loneliness, anger, fears, traumas and abandonment are dispelled as the incidents are revisited and the memories are appreciated for their growth and upliftment.
So I write this because I have met both these very authentic people. I have worked with what seemed thousands of years with Shari yet it is only a few months and the work we have done together to discover the treasures in the old chest has been very precious. I would encourage every one to embark of this journey of discovery with the assistance of the most well rounded therapist healer I have ever met who forms this cocoon of safety and presence to allow the expression of the whole you.

I met Shari and Jonathan during a time of great transition and inner turmoil in my life. There’s a poem by Robert Frost, “Storm Fear,” about life’s challenges: It describes menacing winds during a long, dark night. It talks of creeping cold, dying fires and drifts of snow piling ever higher outside. The poet wonders if he’ll have the strength to awaken his spirit in the coming day and face the aftermath of the storm. Funny how Frost knew so much about the life I was living when I first met Shari.
But even the worst of storms can be weathered. My work with Shari has helped me realize every day is filled with chances to embrace spiritual and personal growth despite the squalls life can toss our way. Our sessions have been immeasurably helpful. Her extraordinary compassion and perceptive nature are at the heart of her talent for counseling and her remarkable shamanic gifts. I am pleased and proud to recommend her to anyone who is searching for a path to spiritual growth, or who might be digging out from the storms this world sends us. What's more, Shari and Jonathan are delightful people and it’s a joy to know them.

To paraphrase the song, how can you thank someone who has taken you from crayons to perfume...
I met Dr. J.Cohen at a point in my life where I was ready to give up – a neurotic husband and 3 wonderful special needs children I had adopted who were suffering from the losses of not only their biological ties, and at that moment, good friends in school that had died. I was ready to give up and spoke to their therapist about checking me in someonewhere and throwing away the key....
He said that was an option and he thought perhaps I could take another option which was to take a little time off for ME and then in 2 weeks come back and talk about pursuing Women Within International.
I did and they and God saved my life then and continue to do so.
It is impossible to describe all the joy and peace I felt sitting in Jonathan's office these many years and continue to do so by email now thiat I am on a journey which is taking me around the world. I am now in the process of escorting my Dad, 92,, to the other side of the veil and then taking my Mom back to her roots in France perhaps for good.
Sitting in session with Dr. Cohen is for me similar to sitting with Buddha. Dr. Cohen is free from judgement and knows how to allow a person to find their own words and their own answers without projecting himself into their path.
I highly recommend his services to continue one's work and journey.

Five years ago, I went to visit Jonathan, following the advice of a beloved guide in my life. I remain deeply grateful for and inspired by my experiences with Jonathan and Shari and my life partner, Jenny. I honestly believe that because of how intentionally and supportively Jonathan and Shari helped us to give voice to our needs for powerful change in our lives, our first child, our dream, came into our life. For four years we explored adoption. We were open to many possibilities and invested what felt like Herculean efforts and more money than we had as teachers. Jonathan and Shari helped us pay attention to an idea Jenny had. She believed so strongly that a little person out there was waiting for us. The four of us did work together to bring our intentions into the light and remove all obstacles in our way. Our three and a half year old moved in with us five months ago and very soon we finalize his adoption. This is powerful change and yes, the most sacred journey I have ever traveled.
